Eindelijk vakantie / holiday

Vandaag was de eerste echte dag van onze vakantie. Gister waren Sas en de kids zo moe dat nadat we in het huis waren aangekomen er niet veel over was. We zijn nog naar een pizzeria gegaan om een hapje te eten en ik had stiekem gehoopt dat we er voetbal gingen kijken maar dat was niet mogelijk ze waren te moe. 


Dus alleen voor de buis gekeken hoe de Duitsers hadden moeten winnen maar 2 keer Balotelli met een blunderende verdediging was genoeg om vandaag rustig te kunnen zeggen dat je uit Nederland komt.


Vandaag hebben we een druk dagje gehad. Om 7 uur zaten we in de auto naar Schloss Neuschwanstein, het Disney kasteel. Lotte wilde hier heel graag heen en het was de moeite waard.

Het is prachtig weer dus dat helpt ook wel. Daarna via een hele mooie toeristische route naar de Plansee waar Jelle het koude water trotseerde. Op de weg terug hebben we nog een Abdij bezocht waar Youri een afschuwelijk Beiers hoedje heeft gekocht en Lotte een Dirndle jurk heeft gepast (maar niet gekocht en ik had het foto toestel in de auto laten liggen).

We zijn lekker wezen eten in een Biergarten in Pullach en hier kon Jelle eindelijk zijn "Porke nuckel" Swedish chef van de Muppets die over gegrillde varkens hiel (Schweine Haxe) praat.

Al met al een goed begin van de vakantie.




Today our holiday really started. Yesterday I had to work and Sas and the kids were so tired that they only wanted to sleep when we reached the holiday house. I convinced them to go out for Pizza and hoped they would want to watch the match there but no chance. The pizza's were eaten in record time and off to bed. So dad had to watch the match with German commentary. It was fun to see the Germans try and try and try and not score. Two "Dutch defense" mistakes by the Germans gave Balotelli enough room to slaughter them and send them home.

Today we went to Schloss Neuschwanstein Lotte's choice for our time in Germany and it was very nice. A nice car ride to the castle, a nice horse cart ride up the mountain and a very beautiful castle tour. After that we took the scenic route via the Plansee in Austria ,where Jelle bravely dipped in the icy waters, back towards Gemany. On the way we stopped at an Abby where Youri bought a ridiculous Bavarian hat and Lotte tried on a Dirndle dress but I couldn't take a picture.

We had dinner at the Wawi beergarten in Pullach sitting outside eating Pork knuckle with leberkase and pretzle. 

All in all a good start of the holiday

vaderdag /Fathersday

Vandaag was het vaderdag. Normaal doen we er niks aan maar dit jaar besloten de kids dat het tijd dat papa de waardering krijgt die hij verdient (hihi), dus vanochtend hadden ze voor het ontbijt gezorgd. Pannenkoeken en bolletjes met een lekker bakkie koffie.

Ook waren er kadoos, maar ze hadden de stropdassen achterwege gelaten. In plaats daarvan kreeg ik een wandelstok en een leesbril. Misschien was het toch beter geweest als ze de stropdas hadden gekozen?

Ook kreeg ik sweatproof koptelefoons zodat ik al rennend een telecon kan doen? Ik begreep het niet helemaa,l maar ik zal ze in ieder geval proberen als ik morgenochtend ga rennen.

De rest van de dag waren we in de dierentuin. Youri doet daar van school uit vrijwilligerswerk en Lotte en Jelle wilden graag zien wat hij doet.

Het was erg warm en sticky en ook vrij druk. Youri wist aardig wat dingen te vertellen, vooral over de witte neushoorn. Aan het eind van de dag liepen we te zweten als otters en stonken we een uur in de wind, maar we hebben het wel leuk gehad.

Het alternatief was om weer een dag bezig te zijn met het opruimen van kasten en het uitzoeken van allerlei troep, nu konden we lekker samen bezig zijn.

Today was fathers day. Normally we don't pay attention to it (we do mothers day) (not true!! Sandra) but this year the kids decided I needed to be reminded I'm their dad?

So they prepared a nice breakfast with pancakes, warm rolls, juice and a nice black coffee.

They also bought me some gifts, and they ensured me they are handy gifts. So they gave me some reading glasses and a walking cane???? I think it would be better if they stick to the tie.

They also gave me some "sweat proof" ear plugs so I can do a telecon during my morning run. I don't know about the telecon but I will use them during tomorrow's run.

The rest of the day we spent in the Singapore Zoo. Youri is working there as a volunteer and we promised the other two we would go and have a look. Youri took us past his station and told us some interesting things about the White Rhino and other stuff. It was hot and sticky and we smelled like animals but we enjoyed the day out and doing things together.

Marina bay Sands

Vanmiddag zouden we naar de Harry Potter tentoonstelling gaan maar die was gesloten voor een prive feestje. Dus maar een rondje gelopen om "Marina Bay Sands" toch een mooi gebouw dat vraagt om gefotografeerd te worden.

De blauwe lucht in Singapore geeft het een mooi contrast.

We were planning to go to see the Harry Potter exhibition but it was closed for the day dueto a "private event".

We took the time to go and have a walk around "Marina Bay Sands" to explore the beached boat on the rocks.

It is a marvel of engineering, and in a weird way also beautiful. The vlue skies in Sinagapore give it a special effect.

lotte's tompoucen.

Heerlijk, heerlijk. Lotte heeft vandaag tompoucen gemaakt. OK uit een pakje maar daarom niet minder lekker.

Lotte made some nice "tompoucen" today. Tompoucen are a dutch delicacy of two layers of puff pastry with pastry cream, and a pink strawberry flavoured icing on top. jummy.
