Zover ik weet zijn er binnen de Moes kant van de familie niet veel die een instrument bespelen. Pa kan aardig zingen en Mac en ik hebben ooit wat bij de drumband gedaan maar het schiet niet echt op. Vorige week zaten wij als trotse ouders klaar voor het eerste "concert" van Jelle en Lotte. OK ze zijn net begonnen en het is erg kort allemaal, maar ik geef het je te doen na 4 maanden les.

Last week Sas and I were the proud parents of real rock stars. Lotte and Jelle performed their first concert. Playing an instrument is not really normal within the Moes family. OK grandad is a good singer and my brother and myself tried out for the local drum band (that is where it stopped) but to say it is common to find a piano or a guitar in a Moes residence, no. Lotte and Jelle took on the instruments 4 months ago and I must say they practise more than I expected, they can do more but you have to be happy with little things and at the moment I'm happy the way it goes. The concert was short but both of them enjoyed it and want to keep on playing.

Youri

De laatste paar weken zijn we een beetje aan het rommelen met Youri. Het begon eigenlijk al een paar maanden geleden toen Sas in Hong Kong zat dat ik naar school moest om hem op te halen omdat hij met erge darmkrampen zat. De dokter gaf hem een pilletje en alles was beter. Een paar weken geleden kreeg hij weer last en na een paar dagen ging het echt niet meer en Youri zat dus een dikke week thuis, de dokter deed de ene test na de ander, poep in een bakkie, pies in een flesje, bloed in een buisje (die volgorde) en niks vinden. Op zondag was de pijn echt niet meer te harden en nam Sas hem mee naar het ziekenhuis, ik zat in Nederland (altijd een excuus) en Youri onderging een MRI scan en maar weer een poep en bloed test, en weer geen oorzaak. Op maandag naar de dokter voor een verwijzing naar een specialist, en ze konden meteen terecht. De specialist wist het ook niet en dus moest hij maar een Colonoscopie en een Gastroscopie uitvoeren om de bekleding van Youri te gaan bekijken. En dit is natuurlijk geen Nederland dus lag Youri op woensdag morgen op de operatie tafel onder gehele narcose terwijl de dokter van boven en van beneden een camera naar binnen schoof. Het resultaat, een onststeking in het darm kanaal en een "zweer" in de slokdarm door maag zuur dat met het vele overgeven van de afgelopen weken naar boven was gekomen. Meneer heeft nu meer pillen dan ik en alles moet over drie maanden in orde zijn (ze gaan dan nog een gastroscopie doen). Ik moet wel zeggen dat het nu een stuk beter gaat en de rust dus weer voorbij is. Lotte en Youri vechten weer als vanouds, soms zou je willen dat er een een beetje buikpijn had.

The last couple of weeks Youri has been struggling with his health. It started three months ago when Sassie was in Hong Kong. I had to leave work to pick Youri up from school because he had serious pains. We went to the doctor, a few pills and that was the end of it, at least that was what we thought. The pain came back four weeks ago and Sas had to pick him up from school and he stayed home for more than a week, we thought it was a stomach flu. But it didn't end so we went to the doctor and they did a stool test, an urine test and a blood test. Result: nothing, nothing at all. So another couple of pills to see if a general approach works (not). On Sunday Sas took him to the hospital as the pain was getting worse. That doctor also didn't know what it was but as we are in the hospital and the doctor watches "House MD" so he ordered a series of tests including a MRI (SGD 2200), another stool and urine test and of course a blood test (vampires). Result : NOTHING, another pill and go see your own doctor on Monday. I was still in Holland so Sas had to do all of this herself. On Monday back to the normal doctor to get a referral to the specialist. On Tuesday the specialist couldn't really think, so "House MD" came out of the closet and it was decided Youri needed a COLONOSCOPY and a GASTROSCOPY (total SGD 3200), and as this is not the Netherlands Youri was on the operation table the next day, enjoying a nice sleep while the doctor shoved a camera up both ends of his body. Apparently Youri started hitting while under the anaesthetic but I think this is understandable even asleep you feel your being invaded. The result is he has a small infection to his Ileum and a gastric ulcer in his Oesophagus, due to the reflux of the stomach acid. So again new pills and the request to come back in three months for another Oesophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy (the more letters the more they cost). And it is not over yet. Youri has more pills than me at the moment and one is a pain killer, one of the side effects of this pain killer is that you can get a gastric ulcer (???) do you believe this? So Sas went back to the specialist and he told her not to worry as this will only happen if you take the pills for around three months (??). After another yell by Sas he agreed to change the pills (more money out of the pocket). At the moment Youri is feeling much better and he and Lotte are at it again. Sometimes you would like one of them to have a little bit of stomach ache.
