20 jaar geleden beloofden Sandra en ik elkaar eeuwige trouw en nu vonden we het nodig om dit nog een keer aan elkaar te bevestigen. Als locatie wilden we eerst de Maladiven doen, op het eiland waar we onze huwelijks reis door gebracht hebben, maar dat was niet te betalen. Dus gekozen voor een eiland dat wat dichter bij Singapore ligt, Tioman. We wilde het klein houden maar hadden het in het loop van het jaar aan wat mensen verteld en zo kwam het dat we toch met zo'n 20 man op Berjaya Resort zaten.
Het was onwijs leuk. Youri heeft voor ons de ceremonie gedaan en ik ben ontzettend trots op hem. Jelle was de ringdrager en deed dat met veel elan, en Lotte speelde op haar gitaar en zong een liedje van ja wel "One direction", "You and I".
Lotte bracht ook Sandra naar de bloemen boog, onder de tonen van John Legend.
Onder de bloemenboog, tegen de ondergaande zon beloofde San en ik elkaar nog tenminste 20 jaar. 's Avonds hebben we lekker gefeest, gegeten en gedronken.
Iedereen die erbij was, en iedereen die ons de beste wensen heeft gestuurd, bedankt en we houden van jullie.
20 years ago we were married and we thought it would be a good idea to renew our vows to one another. Not that there has been any doubt of our love to one another, but it seemed the right thing to do.
The first idea was to do it on the Maldives, but this was slightly over budget, so we settled for Tioman of the East coast of Malaysia. The original idea was to do it just with the kids, but during the year we spoke to a couple of our friends and they all wanted to come and celebrate it with us, so we ended up with a little over 20 people on our guest list.
We had a lot of fun on Berjaya Resort. Youri performed the ceremony and he did a hell of job. Jelle was the ring bearer and he did it with flair. Lotte played the guitar and sang a "one Direction" song, she also escorted her Mom to the altar.
Under he flower arch Sandra and I renewed our vows and we promised each other at least another 20 years. Against a backdrop of the sunset it was super romantic and we partied till late in the night.
To everybody who was there and to the people that send us their best wishes, thanks and we love you.
