Zaterdag zijn we een dag naar Macau geweest. Om ons visum te activeren moesten we naar het buitenland, en om nou meteen op vakantie te gaan naar een of ander exotisch oord vonden we nou ook een beetje overdreven. Je kunt vanuit Hong Kong met de boot in ongeveer een uurtje varen naar Macau, een voormalig portugeese colonie. Ook Macau hoort tegenwoordig net als Hong Kong gewoon bij China, maar ook als SAR (Special Administration Region ofzo). Je hebt geen visum nodig om naar Macau te gaan in tegenstelling tot China zelf. Wij dus op naar Macau. Het was een bloedhete dag, en we hadden bedacht dat we in Fisherman's Wharf (waar ze o.a. een paar amsterdamse grachtenpandjes hebben nagebouwd) zouden starten (leuk voor de kids) en daarna wel verder kijken, misschien zouden we als we het erg leuk vonden ergens een hotelletje zoeken en een nachtje blijven. Fisherman's Wharf was helaas niet wat we ervan gehoopt hadden en de kinderen waren het ook al gauw zat. Tijdens de lunch hadden we toch maar besloten om op dezelfde dag terug te gaan naar HK en terug te komen op een weekend als het niet zo warm is en we er allemaal zin in hebben. We hebben evengoed wel wat leuke fotoos gemaakt in Fisherman's Wharf.

Last week we decided to go to Macau for the weekend, because we had to leave the country so we could activate our work visa for Hong Kong. We could have gone on an exotic trip to Thailand or just go to the Netherlands for the weekend, but we decided to keep it low-key instead. Going to Macau takes about one hour by ferry so that was the easiest thing to do, as you don't need a visa to enter Macau, unlike the rest of China. Macau is a Special Adminstrative Region, just like
Hong Kong. The weather in Macau was as they say in Australia another stinker. About 33 degrees celsius, no wind and hardly any shade. Not the weather that makes us be at our best.
We had decided to start out at Fisherman's Wharf (where they have rebuilt some Dutch houses)and decide where to go after that. We even thought of grabbing a hotel room if we would like to stay another day. Needless to say after lunch, the only thing we wanted to do was go back home. We will come back one day, when the weather is a little more up our alley and we have prepared ourselves a little better. We still managed to make some pictures.
