Dit land blijft je toch elke keer verbazen. Loop ik met een paar collegaas door het winkelcentrum waar we regelmatig gaan dim summen staat daar opeens een replica van een aantal zaanse huisjes en een molen. En dit is niet in het centrum van HK. Ons kantoor staat in Tseung Kwan O wat aan Junk bay ligt aan de kowloon kant van HK en daar wonen bijna geen westerlingen laat staan nederlanders.



De mensen waar ik mee ging lunchen waren chinees en ik vroeg dus waar dit allemaal op slaat, het enige wat zij eruit konden opmaken was dat dit het Nederlandse kerst festival was ???? Nederlands kerst festival, wat is dat nu weer, het blijkt dat in het weekend een klompen maker presentaties geeft, en andere ongedefineerde nederlandse dingen te doen zijn.


Ook kunnen kinderen met Sinterklaas op de foto, die omschreven wordt op onderstaande plaat als de nederlandse kerst man. Ten minste dat denk ik dat er staat maar

Toch wel grappig om iets Nederlands te zien op een plek waar je het niet verwacht en waar het eigenlijk ook helemaal nergens op slaat om het te hebben, vooral de kerst boom met klompen als ballen is toch wel geinig. En o ja alvast prettige kerstdagen

This is not our 2008 Christmas card, and for you who haven't received anything yet don't worry we haven't send anything yet and knowing us it could be that this year only a select group (the neighbours) will get one as we will not have them ready in time for Christmas or even new year. So if you are not within walking distance you might miss out. But that's not what this is about.

While walking to one of our "dim sum" places for lunch in a local shopping center I ran into this "typical" Dutch set up. A windmill, a Zaans huisje and a christmas tree with clogs for ornaments and some huge wooden shoes in front of a wooden shoe work shop.

I was so surprised to find this in a neighbourhood without any gweilos and far away from the city center. The chinese people I was with, we have only three white men working in Tseung Kwan O, told me this was the Dutch christmas festival and the shopping center was organising wooden shoe making exibitions and other things??

I was very surprised to see this and was even more surprised to see a picture of Sinterklaas with a lot of Chinese text,
