Jelle Judo

Vandaag had Jelle zijn eerste judo toernooi. Hij zit aan de grens van de leeftijd en is pas begonnen. Hij ging goed te keer tegen een oranje en een groene band maar verloor net. Tegen een andere witte band was het anders en won hij met overmacht. Papa voelde zich heel trots en ook Jelle stond te gloeien met zijn eerste medaille.

Today was Jelle's first judo tournament. He has had around 5 lessons and is at the end of his age group so the first match was against a huge giant with an orange belt.

Jelle took the initiative but the guy was just to strong and Jelle lost. The second match against a fellow white belt of equal size was a much better match. Jelle managed to get him on his back after putting in a shoulder throw (which I did not film as I was jumping around) but he couldn't pin him down. In  the following seconds Jelle tried to get him down again but there was not enough time.

the third match against a hulk with a green belt, Jelle tried a different tactic, called stay away from the mean guy, it worked for a while but in the end the Hulk got him and pinned him down.

Still I'm as proud as a dad can be and Jelle is happy with his first performance and medal.
